Your privacy

Student accounts and My revision

You can browse the free learning resources without an account. If you choose to sign in, CrackingChem uses its existing Wix member system to handle account creation, passwords and login.

The revision hub stores your Wix member ID, saved topics and questions, notes-reviewed and question-attempted checks, any earlier confidence choices and your last visited resource. These records are private to your account. Your display name is read from Wix to greet you; your password is never sent to or stored by this hub.

A secure, essential sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Login tokens are encrypted on the server. Signing out removes this browser’s hub session. A short-lived login cookie is used while you sign in and is removed when sign-in finishes.

Your revision records are kept until you clear them. You can use Clear my revision data in My revision to remove favourites, progress and your last visited resource for both boards. The hub retains only your member ID and a reset counter to stop an old browser tab restoring cleared records. Clearing revision does not delete your Wix member account. For account deletion, contact CrackingChem through the main website.

Creating an account does not subscribe you to lesson emails or turn on optional analytics. Revision records are separate from anonymous usage reports. Your own completion checks are not assessed marks or predicted grades.

Optional hub analytics

CrackingChem uses optional analytics to understand which lessons help students and improve this notes hub. The notes work whether you allow analytics or decline it.

What is recorded

If you choose “Allow analytics”, your browser stores a random visitor ID for up to 90 days and a session ID for the current tab. We record visits, approximate active time, topic views, video starts and playback milestones, answer reveals, PDF link clicks and clicks to the Year 12 signup page. We also record a broad traffic source, such as TikTok or the CrackingChem website, and a screen-size category.

These analytics tables do not store names, email addresses, IP addresses, written answers, search text or full page/referring URLs. We do not send this analytics data to Google Analytics or advertising services. It is stored with the hub and reports are accessible only to its owner.

Your choice

Choose “No thanks” to use the hub without this analytics collection. Use “Analytics preferences” at the bottom of the notes page to change your choice. Declining later stops further collection and removes the analytics IDs from your browser. Previously collected activity remains in the reports until it expires. Pending requests are cancelled where possible when you decline. Consent expires after 90 days; a refusal remains off until you change it or clear browser storage. Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control browser settings also keep analytics off. A choice about the previous anonymous statistics does not enable this tracking: you must explicitly choose “Allow analytics” on the restored prompt.

Retention and accuracy

Activity is retained for up to 90 days and expired records are removed when analytics is next collected or a report is requested. Counts represent browsers, not identified people. Timing is an estimate, and reaching the end of a video does not prove it was watched in full.

Anonymous daily totals collected while the popup-free setup was active remain separately labelled until their existing 90-day expiry. They are not linked to the restored browser IDs and cannot tell us who returned. No new anonymous page-open totals are collected.

Email signup

The optional signup link opens the existing form on crackingchem.com. A signup-page click is not a completed registration. Any information you choose to enter there is handled by that site under its privacy policy; email addresses are not sent to these analytics reports.

Other services

This notice covers the hub’s optional analytics. Site hosting and sign-in have their own operational processing. Embedded videos and thumbnails are served by YouTube/Google; the video player loads when you open it and is subject to that provider’s privacy practices.
